Each year, the mayor chooses to champion and raise funds for two local charities.
Clinical Neuroscience Research
Mayor Dinah Pounds has selected research into Traumatic Brain Injury undertaken by The Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge/Addenbrooke’s Hospital as one of her chosen charities to support during her tenure as Mayor.
During her inauguration ceremony speech on 22 May 2025 attended by Peter Hutchinson, Professor of Neurosurgery, and Carole Turner, Neurosurgery Research Manager, she referred to the International Neurotrauma Conference held at the Corn Exchange and Guildhall in September 2024 and discussed the importance of traumatic brain injury from prevention (including referring to cycle helmets) to treatment.
A second charity will be chosen shortly.
