Future Champions grants


The Sir Arthur Marshall Future Champions programme provides grant aid to young athletes who compete at county or regional level.

The programme is open to all athletes aged 11 to 25 to support their sporting talent. Priority is given to Olympic and Paralympic sports.

The programme is supported by the Marshall of Cambridge Trust in memory of Sir Arthur Marshall, with grants being awarded for between £50 and £250.

You can apply for a 2024 Future Champions grant until 5pm on 14 October. The awards ceremony for successful applicants will be held at Marshalls in Cambridge at 4pm on Monday 11 November.

Eligibility

Previous applicants have been required to show significant progress in their chosen sport to be considered for a grant.

Applicants must live in Cambridge or South Cambridgeshire and provide or demonstrate:

  • evidence of performance at county or regional level
  • a history of sporting achievements
  • a testimonial from a national governing body
  • plans for how the grant award would be spent
  • evidence that the majority of their sport is played in Cambridge

GLL Sport Foundation funding

The GLL Sport Foundation is an alternative funding source which helps young, talented athletes achieve their full sporting potential by reducing the financial burden associated with sporting costs.

The foundation can provide:

  • Financial help with sport training of between £200 to £1,250
  • Free membership to over 250 sport and leisure venues across the UK
  • Access to sport science and physiotherapy services

Grants are available to athletes who:

  • compete in Olympic, Paralympic, Deaflympic and Special Olympic sporting disciplines
  • compete at regional level or higher
  • live or are educated in, or are affiliated to a sports club based at a venue operated by GLL or one of its partners
