On 18 October 2018, the Cambridge Local Plan [PDF, 14MB] was adopted and the Adopted Cambridge Policies Map [PDF, 12.5MB] was agreed for publication. Together the Cambridge Local Plan (October 2018) and Adopted Policies Map (October 2018) replace the Cambridge Local Plan 2006 'Saved' Policies and Adopted Cambridge Proposals Map (October 2009). We will update our website soon to reflect these changes.
The Development Plan for Cambridge includes:
- The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Minerals and Waste Core Strategy, Minerals and Waste Site Specific Proposals Plan and Proposals Maps
- the Cambridge Local Plan 2006
- the Cambridge East Area Action Plan 2008
- the North West Cambridge Action Area Plan October 2009
Compliance with the National Planning Policy Framework
The Cambridge Local Plan 2006 is the principal development plan document guiding development in Cambridge.
The plan was prepared in the context of a national planning regime that has now been superseded by the Localism Act 2011 and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) (2012).
In the absence of up-to-date Local Plans, the NPPF will become increasingly important in determining local planning decisions.
A review of the Local Plan is in progress. In the meantime, it has been reviewed to establish the extent to which it complies with the NPPF. Two area action plans and six supplementary planning documents have also been reviewed.
The results show that there is significant overall compliance with the NPPF:
