When you rent a home from us, we will make sure it meets the government’s Decent Homes standard. It will comply with health and safety laws and be in good condition.
A decent home in good condition
We must ensure that your rented home meets the government’s Decent Homes standard. Your home will:
- meet the current statutory minimum standard for housing
- be in a reasonable state of repair when you move in
- have reasonably modern facilities and services
- provide a reasonable degree of thermal comfort

A safe and private home
We comply with health and safety laws to make sure your home is safe for you to live in. This includes:
- checking gas, electrical and fire safety
- installing smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
- checking asbestos is safe, if present

We will occasionally need to visit your home, to carry out repairs or to check its state of repair.
Whenever possible we will give you at least 24 hours’ notice, but more immediate access maybe required in an emergency. Your tenancy agreement provides more information.
A home that meets your needs
We are committed to making sure that none of our tenants are disadvantaged when accessing or using our services.
