The following applications were considered at the meeting of Cambridge City Council’s Planning Committee, held on Wednesday 1 July 2026 at the Guildhall, Cambridge. 

Major applications

  • To knock down the existing buildings and build new accommodation specifically designed for students on Wolfson Court, Clarkson Road, and 15A and side and rear of 15 Madingley Road in Newnham.
    Applicant: St John's College, Cambridge
    Decision: Deferred

Minor / other applications

  • To change a condition of planning permission 25/00607/FUL to allow members of the public to use the gym at Cambridge Rugby Union Club in Newnham - open daily between 6am and 9pm.
    Applicant: Mr Tim Hague, Cambridge Rugby Union Football Club
    Decision: Refused
  • To change the existing six-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO) into an eight-bedroom HMO, with minor external changes, at 1 Barton Close, Newnham.
    Applicant: Wolfson College
    Decision: Approved
  • To increase the height of the approved eight-floor extension at Mayflower House, Manhattan Drive, West Chesterton (23/02127/FUL) by 599mm.
    Applicant: Mayflower Manhattan Ltd
    Decision: Approved
