Hate crime

Hate crime is any crime motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a person’s:

  • disability
  • gender identity
  • race or ethnicity
  • religion or belief
  • sexual orientation

A victim does not have to belong to the group targeted by the hostility. Anyone could be a victim of a hate crime.

Hate crime might involve:

  • bullying
  • damage to property
  • domestic abuse
  • graffiti
  • harassment
  • physical attacks
  • verbal abuse

Report hate crime

We and Cambridgeshire Constabulary take hate crime seriously. If you have experienced hate crime, report it to the police.
