East and southeast Asia covers a large geographical region of at least 18 countries, stretching from Myanmar to Japan, and more than 160 documented ethnicities.
We are proud to support East and South East Asian Heritage Month, a celebration and acknowledgment of the culture, history and lives of people from east and southeast Asia.
The month took place throughout September 2021 – it was the first year that we have celebrated East and South East Asian Heritage Month in Cambridge.
We gathered a diverse collection of experiences and accounts reflecting the rich history and heritage of east and southeast Asian people in Cambridge. The Museum of Cambridge collated these audio, video and written submissions on its Capturing Cambridge website, and will keep them in a permanent archive.
