Cambridge Street Aid Week

Cambridge Street Aid was set up in 2016 and to date has raised over £150k from your donations alone.

100% of all donations are available as grants to individuals with a street-based existence to help them move off the streets for good. The grants have helped individuals reconnect with families, seek counselling, fund basic items to turn their accommodation into a home, fund training and work-based courses to mention a few.

Street Aid might not be the solution to street homelessness. It is however a small step in encouraging individuals to engage with services such as Jimmy’s, Wintercomfort, Cyreniens and the Street Outreach team which in turn can help them break away from a street-based lifestyle.

We hope to talk about the positive work going on in the city to help individuals move away for the streets and turn a corner in their lives for good. We want to show how real change is better than loose change when trying to make a difference.

We would love people to get involved. Please spread the word or even arrange your own fundraising event. Examples of fundraisers in previous years include:

  • a cake sale
  • coffee mornings
  • sponsored cycle

We can provide lovely Street Aid yellow T-shirts and fundraising packs to help you on your way.

Contact us if you have lived experience of being on the streets and want to share your story, or you would like to volunteer to assist with any of the events.

More information about Street Aid can be found on our Street Aid: Help for people on the streets page.

2024 events

Cambridge Street Aid Week 2024 runs from 7 to 11 October.

On Monday 7 October, visit the Cambridge Street Aid team next to the John Lewis entrance in the Grand Arcade to talk about our work supporting people on the streets.

On Wednesday 9 October from 10am to 4pm, join us and our partner organisations at our partner agency promotion event. We’ll be showcasing the crucial work that support agencies and charities undertake in Cambridge to help people on the streets make lasting change and educate the public on the support available.

Wednesday’s event will be held in the Let’s Go Circular unit, on the first floor of the Grand Arcade.
